In the Manner of Love

“Love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these commandments” (Matthew 22:37-40, NIV).

Please and thank you. Wait in line.

Don’t interrupt. Be on time.

Smile and listen, proper ways,

Every act, impression stays.

********

Word on word, and rule on rule,

Politeness isn’t taught in school.

Don’t slip up, now, don’t forget.

Manners feel like heavy debt.

*******

Love is shown a different way.

Others first, gives thanks today.

Every time we see a need,

Respond with kindness,

Not with greed.

********

Follow Jesus step by step.

His grace is here when I slip up.

Because He gives more than I can,

I will love with all I am.
