Mend

Mending tangibly demonstrates love.

My son is home from college. He hands me his favorite shorts, fully trusting that Mama can mend that hole in the pocket. Simple acts of love satisfy my heart.

I look up and notice Daisy, the lab. She gazes with anticipation. She remembers that Mama fixes her toys too. I sigh, find her chewed up squirrel and stitch it back together.

She seems to be sitting in the waiting room for a loved one to return from surgery. I smile, remembering all the times I’ve waited like that!

When my heart is torn, I know where to bring it. Jesus is never too busy to help in our moments of need. Every time I bring Him my hurt, He demonstrates His loving care. I trust Him!

“A broken and contrite heart, You will not despise” (Psalm 51:17). These words remind us that God is in the mending business. He lovingly holds us in our brokenness. He restores our joy. We can always come to Him!

Heal us, O LORD, and we will be healed; save us and we will be saved, for You are the One we praise.
