“If you have any encouragement from being united in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion…” (Philippians 2:1)
My day got complicated. They tend to do that.
I had my list, it seemed well balanced. I thought I had enough time to do the “important” stuff.
Then unexpected add-ons made me feel pressured. I would be rushed to do the things on that list I made for mySELF. Better keep focused!
In the early morning hour, the Spirit gently leads me to these verses and reminds me. These needy people need you! The advantage is already yours. You have been blessed, now consider the others I have placed in your day.
My priorities shift.
My son’s sandwich and apple are simple things I can prepare with love. My husband’s coffee will be ready, I took the time to make it the way he likes. My daughter’s unexpected doctor visit is a time I can show her I care. I can listen, be present and alleive her anxieties about her knee.
Now I am back into “my day,” with five minutes to spare! Maybe the things I wanted to do will still get done. I know, though, that the unexpected tasks were my real opportunities to love.
When we walk with Jesus, the advantage is ours. How can you show Him you see this today?
“Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:4).
It is good to see the needs of the family and care for them with love. You are a blessing to your family! I remember that season in life when my children were young and there were many demands on my time. It is an important season.
