Almost

“Behold, I am coming soon!”

Revelation 22:12

My husband, Jeff, is almost home. He has been away, working so hard all week. Vacuum the floor! Clear the to-do list! Bake some cookies! Let him know he was missed. Home is his place of rest.

My son, Declan Quinn, is almost back. He went away to school and learned so many things apart from me. Now I clear out the office, make sleeping space for him to rest, restore, remember this is home.

My life moves closer, year-by-year. Middle-aged is far enough along to recognize I am ‘almost’ home. Life is exhausting work! Days do discourage. I know, though, that soon the end will come. Heaven will restore what this life depletes.

Jesus is almost here! He comes ‘as a thief in the night.’ I clean up unkind words. I move with purpose. Bring good into today! Soon I will see Him face-to-face. He will set all things right.

He promises it won’t be long.

We belong to Him.

Almost here!
