It Takes Two

I’m fractured from the fall

And I wanna go home

Now it takes two and it used to take one

It takes two and it used to take only one

  • Ryan Adams”

I’m driving alone in my car. I hear the words of a song. I wonder what the writer meant. Was he hurt in a motorcycle accident? Did he fall out of a relationship? What are the two? More medication?

We are fractured from the fall. Ever since Adam and Eve, we all try to do things alone, our way. We are broken and longing for home. We come to a place where we recognize we cannot find peace on our own.

Jesus came to mend the break. He took our rebellion and replaces it with love. He brings us all the way home into wholeness, peace and love.

“If one falls down, his friend can help him up.

But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!”

-Ecclesiastes 4:10

Where are you now? DO you feel the fractured state of aloneness? Who can you call? Who recognizes truth?

“For where two or three come together in My name, there I am with them.”

-Matthew 18:20

We cannot find healing alone. Call on your friends who will call on Jesus with you. When you do, He will soothe your pain. He will restore your soul. He will remind you how wonderful and safe it feels to be truly home.

  1. Yes, we do need each other! We need to pray and we need Jesus. My daughter called me today and I was happy to hear that she is reaching out to other families that have adopted children with difficult health needs. I often pray with my daughter on the phone.
