Noise

“In repentance and rest is your salvation,

In quietness and trust is your strength,

But you would have none of it”

(Isaiah 30:15, NIV).

Once again, I set the five-minute timer. Ready, set, GO!

Friday feels like the noisiest day of my week!

Noise in my emails sounds like extra things to read about and pray for. Noise in my schedule sounds like extra family needs that I put onto my “open day, Friday.”

Noise in my mind feels like unfocus, rush, stress.

I need to write, but all of this noise, noise, noise, noise makes it hard to think.

Fridays just seem to be this way.

I had a little office for a little while. Then, my grown kids came home. Now, my workspace is in our open zone, surrounded by the noises of life. I miss accomplishing the goals I set. I remind myself,

“It’s ok! The living leads to the writing. This is a season. God is at work. There will be space and quiet to write in His timing, not mine.”

The stress in my shoulders decreases. I take a big breath and release.

Let the noise of my life turn into music.

Let me dance to the rhythms God brings into my space.

Let me not hold tightly to my sense of urgency.

His way is best.

  1. Oh, I love the idea of turning the noise of life into music and dancing to the rhythms God brings…the rhythm of grace! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with the FMF community on this your busiest of days!

  2. Love this thought–“Let the noise of my life turn into music.
Let me dance to the rhythms God brings into my space.”
I am going to be remembering that as I go about my day.
    Thanks for sharing.

  3. This has really resonated, especially the line ‘Let me not hold tightly to my sense of urgency.’ The emphasis on MY urgency. I can become too precious about my own agenda sometimes. I felt that today and it limited me. I’m sorry.
