Spending Simple Talents

I hold these few talents, small, silver coins in my hand.

Never waste a gift! How might I spend simple blessings?

Voices of doubt, discouragement blurt, “Hide!”

Emptiness latches on. Meaninglessness weighs down.

Suddenly, love’s voice whispers. I lift my eyes.

Treasures spent renew hope. I will try again.

“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me’” (Matthew 25:40, NIV).
