When should we tolerate things we know are wrong? When should we boldly risk offending our people? Wisdom comes from prayer.
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins”
(1 Peter 4:8)
Tolerate: to accept behavior and beliefs that are different from your own, although
you might not agree with or approve of them.
A prayer about tolerance:
Loving Father God, please guide out words and our actions. We, Your children often get things wrong.
“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
As a mama, it is hard it is to know when to speak and when to quietly wait on Your timing. I long to communicate the truth in love. Sometimes You call me to slowness of speech. You make me quick to listen.
Give us courage when You lead, Holy Spirit. We need to hold each other accountable. Sometimes it hurts but love casts out fear. Speaking bravely is a way to lay down our lives.
“My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring
him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save
him from death and cover over a multitude of sins” James 5:19-20).
Give us restraint to be quiet. We all fall. Remind us not to judge each other and forget our planks. You help us recognize the ways we contribute to strife.
“You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly
to remove the speck from your brother’s eye” (Matthew 7:5).
Give my children love for one another. We all need Your help. We get mixed up and emotional without Your guidance. We miss the best opportunities to love. Does it make You sad?
“..speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that
is, Christ” (Ephesians 4:15)
Give my children patience and trust for each other. Jesus, only with Your help can we love as we are loved.
Your Grateful Child,
Anna Therese
