Deliberate Decisions

“Choose My instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold” (Proverbs 8:10, NIV).

Dare to inquire, as David did.

Every choice can draw us closer.

Connect with the One whose wisdom wins,

Instead of obeying your tricky heart

Say a prayer. Ask for wisdom.

In these places, God comes.

Only in waiting upon the LORD,

‘No’ and ‘yes’ become more.

Do we remember to inquire of God when we have choices to make? He gives us freedom to make decisions. He also invites us to seek His wisdom.

“Call to Me, and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3, NIV).

“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls” (Jeremiah 6:16, NIV).

When I call on Him, He leads me gently and clearly. Give it a try! Submit your decision to God. Discover that He makes our paths straight and leads us beside clear water. He restores our souls.

  1. Thank you for your beautiful words—and for your kind comment on my post.

I find this not always easy. Sometimes I bring things before the Lord, and still I don’t know which way to go. It can feel a bit paralyzing—like standing at a crossroads and not knowing whether to go left or right.

And other times… I decide too quickly 🙂 So your reminder to pause and seek His wisdom really stayed with me.

  2. I have always been encouraged by Jeremiah 6:16. Yes, may we always ask God for wisdom and direction when making a decision, for then, we will not go wrong. Blessings!

  3. fits well with the previous post i read about taking a moment to pause and trust. God knows the answer and sometimes we need to pause and trust that he’ll show us the way. Visiting from FMF12
