Don’t Forget to Laugh!

Today I give thanks for …Penguins?!

Each Friday, I take up a challenge to write for five minutes on a one-word prompt. This month, our friend Andrew has taken on temporary hosting while Kate is on medical leave. So far, his word choices have been easy: coffee, chocolate. Today, our word is penguin. Wait, what?

Penguins of Madagascar?

March of the Penguins?

I remember a line from a poem I wrote as a child.

“Penguin, penguin, arctic clown.

When watching you, I just can’t frown.”

Lately, my writing is usually quite serious. I may need a few penguins to lighten things up!

God made penguins. He also made platypuses. He clearly likes a good laugh.

I thank Andrew for giving me a break from writing about serious stuff.

I thank God for penguins and other reasons to smile.

I thank God for another day to open my eyes

and see all the wonders of His creation.

Laughter is healing to my heart.

  1. I too did a double take when I saw this week’s prompt, and wondered what fellow FMF participants would come up with. Love your take–and the line from the poem you wrote as a child.
