It’s not about the turkey!
Let all be one in love.
Personalities, expectations, strong opinions all around.
It’s Thanksgiving in a house full of love…mostly…but we love with blind spots. We often stumble.
I remove myself from the noise and confusion, taking up a dirty plate, finding some peace in a simple task.
Let this be done in love!
Looking down, I see a petal. It fell from the bouquet Emme brought home
From the nature trail
To decorate the celebration. A heart.
The shape is right here. So clear!
Let all be done in love.

It’s not about the turkey, Turkey!
Next day comes. Discussions devolve. Everyone wants to be understood.
I escape from a room of strong opinions,
Out into the chilly, sunny, blue-sky day.
Looking up, I see the most brilliant red! A woodpecker sitting still,
Clinging to the pine, body silver-grey.
He is beautiful!
The winds blow. He waits.
What is he waiting for?
I wait too.
How can I love like You, Jesus?
The wind keeps blowing, but the bird finally moves. Breakfast time for him. Time for me to
Go back inside
Try again
To do
Everything
In love.
Anna, what a beautiful, thoughtful poem! Yes, may all we do be done in love. I found your post at Andrew’s site for Five Minute Friday. I haven’t written anything yet, but I hope to do so.
Blessings to you!
This is beautiful, Anna.
sometimes family gathering are hard ain’t they? Good you found the courage to take a break instead of getting overwhelmed, and you found moments of joy in the doing. 🙂 FMF5
