Getting Cozy?

“‘Comfort, comfort, My people,’ says your God”

Isaiah 40:1, NIV

Isaías ~ Spanish for Isaiah ~ “The LORD Saves”

Might as well get comfortable; what else can we do? Here we sit, in our little crooked home, hoping for the best.

Hello, Isaias! Even your name is not comfortable to say. My family, California transplants, has never been seriously impacted by a storm in all the years we’ve been in the Florida Panhandle.

There is a first time for anything. Our door, our gates, our fences need repair. We have no coverings for the glass. The storm is coming, ready or not. We will be here, in its path.

Sometimes God speaks through storms and afflictions. I know He did for Job. Maybe without them, we forget the truth. This world is not our home. We grow too comfortable if we never need to wait through storms.

There are many around me less ready than I. Lord, please protect and comfort. Help them, in the storm, to hear your voice. Help them to know your love.

Hurricanes are never comfortable, but we will do our best. The One sovereign over the wind and the waves holds us in His care.

He sees us and knows.

Sometimes it takes a storm.

Shake us just enough

to help us long

for Home.
