“…I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.” (How Firm a Foundation, Keen, R.)
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5, NIV).
“…neither height nor depth, not anything in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord”
(Romans 8:39, NIV).
It is true! He will never abandon you!
“Then the LORD answered Job out of the storm” (Job 38:1). Last week, I wrote about the word ‘comfortable.’ Hurricane Isaias approached. It hit our community full force! I was studying Job. I figured I’d better listen! Today, my word is ‘abandon.’ God anchors us in every storm.
God didn’t abandon us while the trees danced and the raindrops flew sideways. I felt His hedge of protection as our unprotected windows were pelted and droplets leaked through the door.
But God doesn’t protect everyone, I thought. The rain falls on the righteous and the unrighteous (Matthew 5:45). His comfort filled my soul. If catastrophe touched us, He would be with us. His presence makes everything bearable. He never abandons His people!

When the power went out, and I was cranky from a stuffy house and no coffee, He didn’t abandon me. My mood is not enough to cancel God’s love.
When I wished my family would help me lug heavy branches to the street, and I grumbled in my heart, He did not abandon me. He understood my frustration and sweetly invited my repentance.
When my neighbors were more affected than I was, and I was helpless to help, God did not abandon me. He patiently teaches us how to serve with the strength we have.
In every detail of this storm- the fear, the frustration, and even the failure- the presence of Christ remains with us. He will never, no, never, no, never forsake!
Praise the Lord! May he continue to bless and watch over you. Thank you for the faith that causes you to write so well. Love, G
